Two Steps Ahead

People no longer think two steps ahead.

Millennials are so busy complaining about social injustices hurting their feelings and their proxy-feelings, that they fail to see what would happen after the government gives in to their demands. Let’s look at their short-sightedness regarding the most attractive policy offered by Senator Sanders: Free public college.

Millennials think that if students could attend public colleges and not worry about the massive student loan debt, they would all receive degrees, find great jobs, and live happily ever after without the crushing debt.

Step 1: Senator Sanders or another short-sighted socialist traitor makes all public colleges free.

Step 2a: To pay for the millions of students to attend free college, taxes would have to be increased tremendously. This would crush everyone besides for welfare recipients, massive businesses, and tax-dodgers. This federal income tax of 50-70% would cause the economy to implode.

Step 2b: As any public school-educated person will tell you, students who have no financial investment in school do much worse than students who pay for their education, or whose parents are paying for their education. I have gone to public schools and private schools. Students in public school know that it’s free, as do their parents. They take it for granted, which results in the public school system largely being a waste of money. If students in public colleges have less of an investment in their education, their grades plummet.

Standards will ultimately drop to accommodate this decrease, and this country begins to look like it does in ‘Idiocracy’. And unlike free high school, free college attendance would cause many students to choose majors that do not necessarily lead to important or well paying jobs. Examples of this are female studies and black history.

(Step 2c: Of the students who did graduate from these low-intelligence, free schools, their degrees would be worthless-literally. And the more students graduate, the further the value of their meaningless degrees would plummet.)

Step 2d: Allowing the federal government to control college would further erase/mock/repeal the 10th amendment, and with it our sovereignty.

Step 2e: As is the issue with all socialist policies, every taxpayer who does not go to college is being screwed, because they are forced to pay for it anyway.

When I try explaining this simple logic to other millennials, or even middle aged adults, they can’t follow. It’s very sad to think that the future of our nation can not even understand what happens after step one.
