The Statists of the Month for May are New Jersey Senators Corey Booker and Bob Menendez. Joined by a few other legislators, the two US Senators sent a letter to the Consumer Product Safety Commission asking them to regulate beach umbrellas, as reported by News12 New Jersey. The lawmakers believe that the umbrellas must be regulated more strictly because they sometimes are secured so loosely in the sand that they fly away, which could cause someone to get hurt.
