Senator Heitkamp and the North Dakota Democrats engaged in one of the most egregious crimes in the history of voter suppression in their preparation for a difficult election.
Democratic Senator, Heidi Heitkamp faced a very difficult reelection in a very conservative state. Being a Democrat, Heitkamp generally supports the abolition of the individual right to own firearms. She knew that the many hunters and firearms enthusiasts in North Dakota would likely cause her to lose reelection to the most powerful legislative chamber in the nation. So, she and the Democrats devised this plan to scare hunters into staying home on election day.
The plan backfired.
