The Statists of the Month are state senator Tony Avella (Whitestone) and state assemblyman David Weprin (Jamaica Estates). They have introduced a bill in both chambers that seeks to supersede and repeal the first amendment to the US Constitution that serves to protect the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press.

 

The bill would seem to give lots of discretion on its interpretation to whoever is to apply the new law which will obviously be someone in government (generally a judge).
