The Statists of the Month for July are Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell and the Honolulu Council for passing a first-of-its-kind law that criminalizes looking at your phone while crossing the street, even while in a crosswalk and even with the green light. The law currently fines people who disobey the government. The third offense earns you a $99 fine.

If this absurd intrusive law seems familiar to you, it may be because The Liberty Block warned about a very similar bill that was submitted by State Senator Tony Avella (Communist - Queens) a few months ago.

Avella's bill has not yet passed the senate committee, so we may still be able to kill it if we all flood the communist Senator with emails. This can be done by emailing Avella@nysenate.gov or by calling him at 718-357-3094.

Additionally, it is crucial to call and and email your Senator and Assemblyman and urge them to vote against this bill.
