Statists of the Month - March 2018

March was a disheartening month for liberty, both in national politics and locally in New Hampshire. As such, we figured we'd highlight the tyrants who caused the most damage to liberty throughout the month:

The New Hampshire House (Democrats and Republisocialists) passed HB 628 for the third and final time and have sent it to the Senate. It is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by Governor Sununu. The bill creates a new government entitlement program which will be funded by a 0.67% increase in the payroll/income tax. We have been fighting the bill for months. The bill passed by a margin so slim that if a few more conservative representatives had shown up and voted, it would have been defeated. A disheartening month, indeed.

President Trump directed the Justice Department to use the the ATF to redefine bump stocks as an illegal device, despite the leftist Obama-Holder ATF admitting that it would require Congress passing legislation in order to ban bump stocks. Trump even sent out a tweet boasting that he is enacting stricter gun control than President Obama could. Constitutionally, however, all laws involving weapons are unconstitutional as long as the 2nd amendment remains in place, regardless of congressional legislation.

Governor Rick Scott of Florida supported and signed SB 7026 into law on March 9th. The bill makes it illegal for anyone under 21 years of age to possess a firearm and it prohibits anyone from possessing a bump stock. Violation of either of these new unconstitutional laws results in a felony punishable by 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The Parkland Authoritarian Youth continued their hateful and misguided attacks on the second amendment. On Saturday, they led one of the nationwide protests against gun rights, during which Democrats called for Chicago-style gun laws to be applied by the federal government to every neighborhood in the US.

Bloomberg's Everytown bought ads in a Casper newspaper and their website, as reported by WyGo

Statist failure: Michael Bloomberg, a former NYC mayor who now seems to spend his time supporting strict regulation of soda & firearms and generally promoting communism has been working hard this month. Bloomberg’s anti-gun group ‘Everytown’ bought full-page ads in Wyoming newspapers/websites that urged Wyoming citizens to text Governor Mead and ask him to veto the ‘Stand Your Ground' bill that passed their House and Senate with massive majorities. Wyoming Gun Owners reported that while the ad campaign by the billionaire NYC socialist may have caused Mead to refrain from actively signing it into law, the calls from Wyoming citizens in support of the bill ultimately pressured him enough to let the bill passively go into effect. Everytown’s website boasts that they plan to spend another $2,500,000 funding ‘sibling marches’ in communities all over the US. Bloomberg has seemingly spent well over $50 million supporting gun control across the US. In the wake of the tragedy that took place in the Florida school last month, Bloomberg’s Everytown and Moms Demand Action seem to be lobbying for gun control in every state in the US .

The silver lining of March: Augmented by the Facebook ads that we’ve bought this month, The Liberty Block has reached over 11,000 people since the beginning of March, most of which were NH residents. Keep up the fight! You can help our content reach more people by commenting here or on our Facebook, by sharing it with friends, and by donating via our Patreon if you’d like. We make no money from The Liberty Block.

Thank you so much!
